Fire & Slice was founded in Sumner by Pal Singh in 2018. We're proud to be serving the local Christchurch and Sumner communities with our absolute commitment to quality.

THE DOUGH

THE FIRST STEP IN GREAT PIZZA

Our dough is hand made every day, using the perfect blend of tradition and science. We combine different flours, fresh yeast, and just the right amount of hydration to make a signature dough which is light, flavoursome, and fragrant.

Then, the crucial ingredient: time. We let our dough sit for two days before using it, so it develops the complex flavours and airiness we're famous for. When it's time to use it, we hand stretch and spin each pizza base before applying our locally-sourced ingredients.

THE INGREDIENTS

LOCALLY SOURCED FROM CANTERBURY

Except from our tomato passata which we source from Italy (you can't beat Italian tomatoes), absolutely everything at Fire & Slice is sourced locally from New Zealand, and in most cases: within Canterbury.

We work with small artisan producers of cheese, meats, and vegetable growers, to source the freshest and most flavourful ingredients for our pizzas.

THE TEAM

LED BY PAL SINGH

Pal Singh has been cooking for more than 20 years. He was trained in hospitality and cooking in his native India before moving to New Zealand in 2015.

He initially lived in Auckland which is where he developed his passion for great pizza, as well as a love of the Warriors league team. Pal then moved to Christchurch in 2017 and decided he needed to change code with the new city: embracing rugby union and the All Blacks.
